Sometimes the best marketing costs as much as a can of paint, some cardboard, and a post-it.
Like these unofficial lawn signs popping up around Nebraska.

To understand this story, I need to explain a tiny bit of politics. If you stay, I have a real treat for you at the end. Deal?
Nebraska is a bit different from other US states: they award their electoral votes by congressional district, rather than by statewide winner.
So, small communities who vote differently than the deep-red norm can actually impact an election.
At first the blue dots were a mystery. White signs with small spray painted blue dots started popping up on lawns across Omaha.
It was Jason Brown who happened to have some blue spray paint in his garage, and after a few failed attempts, decided used a flower pot to get the circle right.
He asked his wife:
Is this enough?
Just a small, homemade blue dot indicating to someone feeling like a minority, that they're not alone. But then, neighbors started asking Jason for signs.
"At first we made 10, then another 10. When we asked for 100 more white rectangles, we thought we would have too many left over"
With help from neighbors, they've now made over 7,800 signs— people are grabbing them before the paint dries. The movement has been covered by CNN, The Washington Post, USA Today, FastCo, and a host of local news stations.
It was enough.
In an election where billions of dollars are being spent on splashy commercials, billboards, huge rallys, and so many social ads— the best and most impactful stuff will always come from communities, conversations, and creative folks who care.
That's true for your marketing too.
P.S You made it to the end! Here is your treat.
