Ahh TikTok. It’s a beast of a platform. Most downloaded. Top-grossing (re: consumer spending). And so, so addictive.
Using the app is all fun and games, but creating content and growing your audience on there can feel intimidating as heck.

I made an oopsie at work last week and it absolutely ate me alive.
Let me set the scene. It’s the Friday before the long weekend and we want to send an email to folks who are most engaged and interested in joining Growclass for the September cohort (or as I like to call them… the Super Hot Fire list).
I thought I had everything all set up and ready to go. I ran through the checklist:
✅ Sent a test email.
✅ Checked the links.
✅ Looked over the journey before publishing.
Then I sent the email out to over 700 people.
Another day another email right?
Wrongggg.
I peek at my inbox and realize the subject line isn’t the one from the test email.
*Instant anxiety*
Clicked into the email and confirmed it was indeed the wrong one.
What the actual heckkk?! How?
I head over to our email service provider, Autopilot, and see we have two emails with similar names.
I got the wrong one.
1. Choose better naming conventions. This will help you recognize emails before you send them. Super hot fire is a cool name but from that title you can’t tell what the email is about or what audience it’s going to. It’s easy to get it mixed up.
2. Send test emails from within your journey rather than from the Email Manager page. Before you hit that publish button, send your test email so even if the names are similar you’d catch the mistake.
3. Triple check!! Take your time and read things over carefully. Pro tip - It helps to read things out loud rather than saying it in your head so your brain doesn’t fill in the blanks for you.

Keep your phone out of sight until you take a break so you don’t get sucked into the endless scroll (and even then, try to make some of your breaks screen free!)
