Hey,
At Growclass, we love helping Founders grow their businesses in the most efficient ways. So we sat down with ex-Aerospace Engineer turned Co-founder and CEO of Babbly, Maryam Nabavi, to find out her advice for founders.
Maryam recently closed a US $2.5M seed funding round to help more parents get a clearer picture of their kids’ speech and language development.
How has Growclass impacted your business?
It gave me a framework to be both scrappy and scientific — to adopt a growth mindset. As a founder you need to learn fast and do a lot of experimentation. But I didn't have a framework in mind. It was just, "let's throw everything into the kitchen sink."
If you could go back in time and give yourself one piece of advice, what would it be?
I’d say a few things. First, and I still struggle with this, is to worry less and enjoy the journey. There will always be ups and downs, and it will be tough.
After I raised our seed round, I thought things would be really straightforward and easy, and they’re not. Enjoy the good moments and accept the growth pains.
Second would be to…

If you read the Copy in the Wild section of last week’s newsletter, you know how fond I was of the idea of SaaS––Smoothies as a Service delivery van (lol more of this cheeky copy please)!
I just had to dig deeper and find the company behind it. Here’s the breakdown:
Green Me Smoothies is a smoothie subscription service that offers fresh smoothie delivery in the US.
What we like…
1. Great product images that’ll make you thirsty for a sip of those smoothies.
2. Explains how the service works in a simple and effective way.
3. Includes logos and testimonials for added social proof that they’re a trustworthy brand.
What we’d improve…
1. SaaS––Smoothies as a Service is a fun acronym but it’s a super niche tagline that will only be clever to folks in the tech ecosystem. Some people landing on this page may not know what it means. Add some description copy under the H1 like: “Save yourself the hassle and the mess. Get fresh smoothies delivered to your doorstep.” Then continue with the cheeky copy throughout the website to keep folks engaged and make them smile.
2. Swap the Hero CTA “Order Here” to something like “Drink your veggies” – it sounds more fun, requires less commitment right away, and allows you to anticipate what to expect when you click.
3. Make sure the Nav bar is adhering to accessibility and readability guidelines by making the font bigger and changing the colour to one with more contrast from the background.
Let people know why they should trust you. Using numbers is a great way to get their attention.
Twitter is about hot takes. Keep it fun, creative and punchy. If you make them laugh, you have them in the palm of your hands.
Keep it to one takeaway per tweet. Give people a reason to keep reading.
